She was predeceased by: her parents, Roosevelt Grant and Alice Bostick Grant; her husband Ernest Smith; her siblings, Sanders Lee, Allen, William, Nelson and Shelby Grant; and her stepfather Henry Pyett.
She is survived by: her children, Barbara Sadat (Jibril), Janette Davis (Calvin), Lee Smith, Carolina McAuley (Cuanas) and Helene Smith (Calvin); her siblings, Annette Lewis (Joe Nathan) and Roosevelt Grant (Linda); and her friends, Linda and Bernice. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, April 24th 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at the Hooper Funeral Home Chapel (1415 14th St NE, Winston-Salem, NC 27105). A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 24th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
