He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Nelson and Ruth Hier Nelson; his wife Rita Joyce Osborne Nelson; and his siblings, Roger Nelson and June Severns.
He is survived by: his daughters, Jacqueline Johnston (Francisco) of Winnabow, Marsha Hyde of Williamston, NC and Trisha Curling of Virginia Beach, VA; his stepdaughter DiAnna Dimeck of Chesapeake, VA; his son Charles Nelson of Virginia Beach, VA; and his grandchildren, Gabriel Jacobs and Monica Lisi. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
