He was predeceased by: his parents, David George and Mary Elizabeth Hoggard; and his siblings, Kelly, Raymond, Ola, Grady, Meredith, Byra, Lora Hoggard and Beulah Pierce.
He is survived by: his wife Doris Jean Phelps Hoggard; his children, Kay H. Lewis of Edenton and David W. Hoggard, Jr. (Mary Ellen) of Windsor; his grandchildren, Michael Hoggard, Renee Willard (Mike), Blake Fuller (Leslie) and Melissa Mingin (Chris); and his great grandchildren, Katelyne Stacey (James), Kassidy Clark (Nolan), Holden Fuller, Sydney Fuller, Haley Nash, Grace Mingin and Wyatt Mingin.
