She was predeceased by: her parents, Norman Joseph and Sarah Gertrude Hughes Miller; her husband Raymond Earl Cowand; and her siblings, Betty Joe Freeman, Nancy Miller Bazemore and Harlee Peyton Miller.
She is survived by: her children, Ruby Cowand Sanders (Frank) of Troy, NC and Joseph Wayne Cowand (Laura) of Merry Hill, NC. She is also survived by six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
