He was predeceased by: his parents, Archie Alfred and Evelyn Britton Nixon; his wife Barbara Gail Johnson Nixon; his daughter Stacy Nixon Hoggard; and his brother Howard Nixon.
He is survived by: his son Keith Wade Nixon (Susan) of Edenton; his son-in-law Joseph Hoggard of Windsor; his siblings, Margaret Nixon Peele (J. D.) of Fleming Island, FL and Donnie Nixon of Greensboro; his grandchildren, Derek Nixon (Laura), Dylan Nixon (Krista), Grant Nixon, Emily Berryman Stallings (Joe) of Hunter Berryman, J. D and Jessica Hoggard; and his great grandchildren, Heath Nixon and Micah Nixon.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Nixon Family Cemetery Fund, in care of Kermit Nixon, 410 Tynch Town Road, Edenton, NC 27932.
