It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lawrence Anthony McGinnis of Windsor, North Carolina, who passed away on February 29, 2024, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence McGinnis and Helen Kirby McGinnis; and his sisters, Madeline Roche (Madge), Anna Marie McGinnis and Mary Manning Hughes.
He is survived by: his children, Anne Marie Sopp of Greensboro, NC, Larry McGinnis (Cindy) of Mooresville, NC, Margaret Mary Price (John) of Belmont, NC and Eileen Saer (Henry) of Charlotte, NC.; and his grandchildren, Edward Sopp, Teresa Tunney, Brian Sopp, Tracy McGinnis, Amber Whitmill, Laura McGinnis, Jenna McGinnis, Nathan Groves and Anne Marie Basile. He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
In light of his great love for family the family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Saint Jude Children's Hospital in honor and memory of Katie Dougherty.
