He is survived by: his wife Shirley Perry Cooper; his brother Joseph Wiley Cooper; his children, Anita Cooper Langston, John Tazewell Cooper and Stephanie Elizabeth Cooper; his grandchildren, Christin Joyner Roberson, Ashlyn Kate Joyner, Donald Van Joyner, Jr., Alaina Gayle Bowen and Aliannah Rae Bowen; his great grandchild Harper Paisley Joyner; his nephew Robert Chowan Belch Jr.; and his nieces, Kathryn Belch Perry and Maricoleman Etheridge Cooper.
