He was predeceased by: his parents, John Edward Tyler II (Jack) and Margaret Long Tyler; and his sister Ridley Tyler Smith. He is survived by: his wife Marjorie Neblett Tyler (Marti) of Knoxville, TN; his son Ernest Rutland Tyler (Elise Kapp Tyler); his grandchildren, John Cole Padgett Tyler, Pierce Jackson Tyler and Lillian Marjorie Tyler (Lilli) of Hillsborough, NC; his daughter Marjorie Tyler Bridges (Benjamin Garner); his grandchildren, Garner Long Bridges and Margaret Wallace Bridges of Lake Wiley, SC; and his sister E. L. Gregory Tyler (William). He is also survived by eight nieces and nephews; numerous cousins; and hundreds of best friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Marks Episcopal Church, Roxobel; St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Windsor; Historic Hope Foundation, Windsor or a charity of one's choice.
