He was predeceased by: his father Clarence Marvis Matthews. He is survived by: his mother Kathryn Meeks Whitaker; and his siblings, Joe Matthews (Debbie) of Tarboro, Jane Knox (Mack) of Parmele and Kay MacGray of Williamston. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and his companion.
