He was predeceased by: his parents, Ross Joseph Nichols and Velner Cooke Nichols; his son-in-law Cliff Joyner; and his siblings, Curtis Nichols, Frances Futrell, Fred Nichols and Linda Nichols.
He is survived by: his wife Virgia Burkett Nichols; his children, Beverly Nichols Joyner of Ahoskie and Michael Nichols (Sandra) of Ahoskie; his grandchildren, Brandon Nichols (Kayla) of Aulander, Michelle Nichols of Askewville and Taylor Joyner (Josh) of Ahoskie; his great grandchildren, Brantley, Mallory Nichols, Leah, Noah and Rayne Smith; and his siblings, Joe Nichols (Gloria) of Ahoskie, Barbara Mulder of Conway and Delores Early (Joe) of Aulander.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 15th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the St. John Baptist Church (1645 NC-461, Ahoskie, NC 27910). A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, April 15th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, April 15th 2025 at 3:45 PM at the Highland Memorial Gardens (109 Ward Rd, Ahoskie, NC 27910).
