He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Johnson and Shirley Smithwick Perry. He is survived by: his son James Walter Johnson, Jr.; his grandson Peyton James Johnson; his sisters, Sharon Joyner of Powellsville, Monica Keel of Ahoskie and Carla Emminizer (Rob) of Perrytown; his nieces and nephews, Shannon Dunlow (Bobby), Amanda Hobbs (Dane), Rebecca Joyner, Kellie Keel (Corey), Edward Joyner and Walter Emminizer; and his uncle Kenneth Smithwick (Brenda) of Louisburg. He is also survived by 4 great nieces and 7 great nephews.
