He is survived by: his wife Velma Rose Askew Hughes; his children, Angela Hughes King (Toby) of Colerain, Gary Graham Hughes (Pamela Bracey) of Colerain and Darryl Wayne Hughes of Colerain; his sister Margaret Holland of Suffolk; his grandchildren, Graham Wynne Hughes, Mason Lear Hughes, Cynthia Williams, Miranda King, Ashley Hughes and Darryl Hughes, Jr.; and his great grandchildren, Macye Hughes, Malachi Hughes, Elijah Whitfield, Kyley Whitfield, Alden Williams and Aubrey Williams.
