He was predeceased by: his parents, William Allen and Myrtle Rose Hamilton Johnson; his wife Peggy Starling Johnson; and his siblings, Gerald, Thurston, Elliot, Hartman, Graham, Rupert Johnson, Era Upchurch, Madeline Naylor and Margaret Matthews.
He is survived by: his children, Alan Johnson (Gloria), Michael Johnson (Gail) and Kelly Caviness (Marty); his grandchildren, Lauren Caviness Watkins (Daniel), Amber Johnson (Chris) and Joshua Caviness (Nikki); and his great grandchildren, Silas Johnson, Parker Watkins and Coralee Rose Watkins. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
