He is survived by: his wife Glenda Owens Hughes; his sons, Thomas Rhodes Hughes (Janon) of Currituck and Nicholas Beadles (Krista) of Grandy; his siblings, William Edward Hughes (Pat) of Edenton and Virginia Baker Burnett of Wendell; and his grandchildren, Olivia and Grayson Hughes.
