It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Vernon Jackie Freeman of Wilson, North Carolina, who passed away on July 5, 2024, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. As Vernon Jackie departs from our midst, his spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Vernon Jackie. Though Vernon Jackie may no longer walk beside us, his legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
He is survived by: his wife Judy Summerlin Freeman; his sons, Eddie Freeman (Jean) of Wilson and Allen Freeman (Deneen) of Hope Mills; his grandchildren, Caleb and Natalie Freeman; and his brother Jimmy Skinner (Gail) of Elm City.
