He is survived by: his children, Laura Jane Whitehead (Rickie) of Wilson, Robert C. Thaxton (Robin) of Goldsboro and William B. Thaxton (Jennifer Lynn) of Kinston; and his grandchildren, Lauren Frails (Errol), Allison Whitehead, Travis Thaxton, Kelly Mercer, Chris Thaxton, Harrison Thaxton and Madison Mercer.
