He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward "Ed" Winstead and Grace Shealy Winstead. He is survived by: his wife Sue "Susie" Smith Winstead; his children, Laurie Tyson (Bill) of Stantonsburg and Steven Winstead of Elm City; his grandson Noah; his sisters, Kay Reinmiller (Dick) of Nebraska and Tyre Cale (Larry) of Wilson; his nieces, Deanne Winstead, Megan Cale and Michelle Reinmiller; and his nephew Michael Reinmiller.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Christian Church Choir Fund, 207 Tarboro Street NE, Wilson, NC 27893.
