He was predeceased by: his parents, John Bunyan Whitley, Jr. and Mamie Moore Whitley. He is survived by: his wife Mabel Jefferson Whitley; and his children, Lydia W. Walton (Jonathan Stratton) of Asheboro, Cynthia W. Gattis (Gary) of Benson, John Gordon Whitley (Cathleen) of Ormond Beach, FL and Andrew J. Whitley (Melissa) of Wilson. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
