He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Warren and Mary Elizabeth Varnell Gay; and his siblings, Clyde Gay, Jr. and JoAnn Newcomb. He is survived by: his siblings, Ora Lee Bunting of Elm City, Judy Thorne of Elm City, Marilyn Jarman (Ed) of Kinston, Linda Poole (Rudolph) of Elm City and Charles Fredrick "Freddy" Gay of Wilson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
