He was predeceased by: his parent Governor Barnes. He is survived by: his mother Blanche Carr Barnes of Farmville, NC; his wife Ester Barnes of West Haven, CT; his children, Corey Barnes of West Haven, CT and LeRonda Barnes of West Haven, CT; and his sisters, Edna Thomas of Pennsville, NJ and Mittie Mitchell of Farmville, NC. He is also survived by other loving relatives and friends.
