He was predeceased by: his wife Kay Watson Strickland; his parents, James Vernon Strickland and Edith B. Freeman; his siblings, June Hawley, Frances Cole and Rudy Strickland; and his pet Peewee.
He is survived by: his daughter Jennifer Blalock (Travis); his grandsons, Drew Denton and Chase Denton; and his sisters-in-law, Debbie Saunders and Aliene Waston. He is also survived by nieces, nephews.
