He is survived by: his parents, James Earl Forbes and Ida Parker; his brother Melvin Michael Coley; his wife Lisa Forbes of Wilson; his children, Ida Serina (Paulo) of Raleigh, James Elmer Forbes, Jr. (Melanie Brock) of Black Creek and Joseph Lee Forbes of Wilson; his siblings, Lora Driver (Dexter) of Pinetops, Melinda Toler (Sam) of Wilson, Angela Dolin (Sandy) of Richmond, VA and Joseph Melvin Coley, Jr. of Wilson; and his grandchildren, Joel Forbes and Cheyenne Forbes.
