He was predeceased by: his son Justin Thomas Varnell; his mother Patricia Varnell-Allen; and his brother Todd Varnell. He is survived by: his wife Donna Etheridge Varnell; his children, Amy V. Gaster (Kyle) of Annapolis, Allyson V. Tingen (Bradley) of Wilson, Charles Jackson Varnell of Wilson and S. Caleb Varnell (Kara) of Sims; his grandchildren, Abigail Johnson (Bruce) of Lucama, Zoe Varnell of Wilson, Charlie Varnell of Wilson, Luke Varnell of Sims, Eliza Varnell of Sims and Scarlett Tingen of Wilson; and his father Charles Edward Varnell (Mary) of Kentucky.
Visitation was held on Sunday, November 10th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Joyners Funeral Home & Crematory (4100 Raleigh Rd Pkwy W, Wilson, NC 27896). A memorial service was held on Monday, November 11th 2024 at 4:00 PM at the Impact Church of Wilson (3338 Corbett Ave, Elm City, NC 27822).
