He was predeceased by: his parents, Manley G. Ferrell and Pattie F. Ferrell; his wife Sue Brooks Ferrell; and his great grandchild Margaret Miller Robins. He is survived by: his children, Leigh Robins Kirkman (Don Kirkman), Gilbert D. "Bert" Ferrell, Jr. (Pam Taylor) of Wilson and Patricia "Trish" Ferrell Meade (Jon Meade) of Wilson; his grandchildren, Katherine Robins Wall (Braxton Wall) of Raleigh and Miller Douglas Robins (Cait Robins) of Cary; his great grandchildren, Holden, Brooks Wall of Raleigh, Henry and Shea Robins of Cary; and his sister Patsy Ferrell of Wilson.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, April 10th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the First Christian Church (207 Tarboro St NE, Wilson, NC 27893). A celebration of life was held on Thursday, April 10th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Barton College (400 Atlantic Christian College Dr NE, Wilson, NC 27893).
