She was predeceased by: her husband A. D. Carter, Jr.; her son Michael Carter (Cindy); her parents, Ralph Depew and Nancy Depew; and her son-in-law Kenny Campbell.
She is survived by: her children, Philip Carter of Asheville, Peter Carter (Lucia) of Asheville, John Carter (Beverly) of Wilson, Jane Campbell of Durham, Susan Saltzman (Paul) of Sunset Beach and Wendy Wingrove (Brian). She is also survived by eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and many loved nieces and nephews.
