She was predeceased by: her parents, Johnnie Sanders and Adelia Artis Sanders; her husband Pharoah "June" Barnes; her daughters, Linda Faye Sanders and Rita Denise Sanders; her siblings, Lillian Artis Farmer, Eula Sanders Whitley, Norman Artis and James "Dick" Sanders; and her foster son Albert "Nub" Ellis.
She is survived by: her sons, Darryl "Cooley" Sanders (Debra) of Wilson, Johnnie Earl Sanders (Connie) of Wilson, Antonio Barnes (Charlena) of Wilson and Tyrone Ward (Kelvie) of Wilson; and her godsons, Waddell Richardson (Natasha) of Newport News and Rodney Richardson (Katie) of Wilson. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; two special great-grandchildren.
