She was predeceased by: her parents, William Batts and Mildred Batts; her sister Priscilla Sipe; her brother-in-law Fred Sipe; and her nephew Mark Steven Batts.
She is survived by: her daughters, Dovie Lee Spurlin of Wilson, Lorie A Granberry (Ray) of Carteret County and Kimberly D. Whitley (Michael) of Wilson; her close friend Leroy Barnes; her stepson Greg Brown (Maurine); her grandchildren, Jenifer Spurlin, Jessica Williams (Joshua), Sarah Whitley (Austin), Erica Quidley and James "Jamie" K. Madison, Jr.; her siblings, Mildred Lynn Batts (Marvin) of Elm City and William "Bill" E. Batts, III of Winston Salem; her nephew Dave Batts; and her caregivers, Datwan "Dee" Liles, Erica, Felicia and Mary.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, October 2nd 2024 from 6:00 PM to 6:45 PM at the Joyners Funeral Home & Crematory (4100 Raleigh Rd Pkwy W, Wilson, NC 27896). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, October 2nd 2024 at 7:00 PM at the Joyner's Funeral Home (4100 Raleigh Rd Pkwy W, Wilson, NC 27896).
