With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Derwood Winstead of Wilson, North Carolina, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. He was predeceased by: his siblings, Herman, Horace, Val, Mitch Winstead and Rebecca Winstead.
He is survived by: his wife Edna Rouse Winstead; his children, Rhonda Winstead Coumas (James Coumas) and Brett Winstead (Lisa Winstead); his sisters, Patsy Stone and Bonnie White; his grandchildren, Mary Claire Brown, Caroline Silvious, Graham Brown, Jarrett and Joel Winstead; and his great grandchildren, Hardison Brown, Lucas and Savannah Silvious. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 23rd 2025 from 3:00 PM to 3:45 PM at the Grace Baptist Church (202 Kincaid Ave N, Wilson, NC 27893). Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 23rd 2025 at 3:45 PM at the same location.
The family requests no flowers, but donations can be made in Derwood's memory to the Hope Station, PO Box 2164, Wilson, NC 27894 or to the outreach of Grace Baptist Church, 202 Kincaid Ave N, Wilson, NC 27893.
