We are sad to announce that on December 28, 2021, at the age of 80, Clarence Q. Simmons (Wilson, North Carolina) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel Simmons and Mary Hardy Simmons; his daughter Cynthia Avery; and his siblings, Daniel Simmons, Jr., Carl Simmons and Emily Carroll.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda Simmons; his children, Clarence Q. Simmons, Jr. of Hampton, VA and Patricia F. Harris (Winston) of Wilson, NC; his grandchildren, Al-Twann Wesson of Greensboro, NC, Aaron Atkinson (Jessica) of Rocky Mount, NC and Thelmeshia Avery of Saratoga, NC; his great grandchildren, Tralen Wesson of Raleigh, NC, C'ynai Wesson of Oahu, HI, Cameron Atkinson of Rocky Mount, NC, Avery Atkinson of Rocky Mount, NC, Soraea Atkinson of Rocky Mount, NC and Rozlynd Cutler of Rocky Mount, NC; his sisters, Geraldine Prentice of Bronx, NY and Ruth Champen (Walter) of St. Albans, NY; and his brother-in-law Robert K. Shaw (Beatrice) of Greensboro, NC. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other special relatives and friends.
Due to the outbreak of the COVID pandemic, there will be a private service for the family and designated persons; however, there will be a public visitation on Sunday, January 2, 2022 from 3:00 to 6:00 p. m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King Jr. Pkwy., Wilson, NC. All attendees at the viewing and at the funeral service are asked to wear masks for their protection and the protection of others.
