He was predeceased by: his parents, Douglas Mitchell and Ethel Mitchell; his siblings, Douglas Mitchell, Jr., Wilbert Mitchell, Estwood Mitchell, Louise Mintor, Nellie Mae Mundy and Mary Fruege; his son-in-law Michael Beck; and his grandson Seth Rothrock.
He is survived by: his wife Faye Mitchell; his children, Charlotte Beck, Richard Mitchell, Michael Jones, Cheryl Lyons (Andy), Al Mitchell, Jr. (Tracy), Dwayne Jones (Brenda) and Elizabeth Dawson (Tony); his sister-in-law Linda Mercer (Windy); and his granddaughter Bella. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, March 19th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Joyner's Funeral Home (4100 Raleigh Rd Pkwy W, Wilson, NC 27896). A funeral service was held on Thursday, March 20th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, March 20th 2025 at 11:30 AM at the Evergreen Memorial Park (2800 Nash St N, Wilson, NC 27896).
