He was predeceased by: his wife Mildred Kimbrough Grissom; his sister Bessie Grissom; and his sons-in-law, Michael Thornton and Jerry Goodman. He is survived by: his daughters, Jane Grissom Wilson (Jack) of Raleigh, Jeanne Grissom Goodman and Rebecca Grissom Thornton of Oxford; his sister Betty Grissom Bobbitt of Oxford; and his grandchildren, Justin Wilson of Raleigh, Sonya Goodman, Alexandra Goodman of Oxford, David Thornton (Lindsey) of Wake Forest and Hannah Thornton of Raleigh. He is also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church, PO Box 1467, Wilson, NC 27894.
