He was predeceased by: his wife Kathy C. Shell; his pets, Buster and Bucky; his parents, Lee Roy and Martha Shell; and his brother James L. Shell.
He is survived by: his daughter Elizabeth S. Bashore (Rob Bashore); his grandchildren, Lilly Bashore of Charlotte, NC and Davis Bashore of Charlotte, NC; his sister Jane Moore of Hickory, NC; and his former wife Lynda Shell of Wilmington. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
