William Everett Hines Obituary

William (Billy) Everett Hines II, born January 24, 1948, fell asleep in Christ on June 12, 2024. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Hines Brown, his father, William Everett Hines, and his step-father, Rev. Howard Lester Brown, Sr.

Billy is survived by his wife, Karen; sister, Becky Hines (Arnold Carson), and brother Howard Brown, Jr. (Michael); nephew, James Dillon II (Dina), great-niece, Sarah Padezanin (Nick) all of Wilmington; great-niece Heather Summers (Logan) and their son, Jakob of Washington, NC. He is also survived by a daughter, Marcia Caradinta (Ovi) of Pawley's Island, SC and a son, Austin Bean (Sheena) of Eugene, OR; grandchildren Amalia and Lily Caradinta; Noa, Banyon, Avenlea and Theia Bean;. Billy also leaves behind many cousins who he loved and enjoyed communicating with. The neighborhood children loved Billy. They would go over to "Mr. Billy's" for their daily chocolate candies. This was a special treat for him.

He was a graduate of New Hanover High School, class of 1966, where he played trombone in the school band. Billy attended Wilmington College (now UNCW) and was a graduate of Miller-Motte Business College majoring in accounting.

Billy was retired from Occidental Chemical in Castle Hayne, where he worked for 38 years in the finance area and store room. He was a valued employee and made many lifelong friends there.

Serving most recently as Deacon of United Advent Christian Church, Billy was often one of the first faces people saw as they entered the church. In past years, he was active in the Men's Fellowship and the church choir. He also held other various positions in the church. He loved Southern Gospel music and enjoyed his Rock & Roll music (Kiss).

Billy will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. He was such a kind and gentle man and loved by many. He was a wonderful husband, brother, uncle and grandpa. Billy was a very special, selfless man with a heart of love.

A service of remembrance will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, August 3, 2024 at United Advent Christian Church, 4912 S. College Road, Wilmington, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at the church.
