He was predeceased by: his parents, Stanley W. Schmitt and Bertha Schmitt (Kenly); and his sister Elizabeth McClain. He is survived by: his wife Geraldine Schmitt (Seaberg); and his children, Jennifer Lighthall (Peter Evans), Stephen Schmitt (Anne), Claudia Micare, Claire Craighill Erika Michelis (Peyton) and Eva Schmitt-Robbins (Graham). He is also survived by 6 children, five daughters and one son, grandchildren.
