She was predeceased by: her parents, Isaac Brown and Marie Brown; her husband George D. Avent; her son George Avent, Jr.; her siblings, Russell Brown, Raymond Brown, Horace Brown, Donald Brown and Evelyn Golden; and her grandchildren, Shawn Howard and Jimmy Graham.
She is survived by: her son Lawrence "Larry" G. Howard; and her grandchildren, Sabrina Howard, Devri Howard, Heath Graham, Darrell King, Shanekqua King and Jon King. She is also survived by great-grandchildren and 2 special great-great-grandchildren.
