He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Fitzgerald (Ray) and Betty Strickland Fitzgerald Foltz; his brother Dale Fitzgerald; and his wife Joan Fitzgerald (Brooks). He is survived by: his children, Cathleen Herman (Royce) and Kevin Fitzgerald (Jenni); his sister Patricia Helsel (Gary); his grandchildren, Susan (Anthony), Ryan, Kayle and Tyler (Fayvionne); and his great grandchildren, Jariya, Aryanna, Kobe, London, Aiyden, Zoe and Makaylee.
In lieu of flowers, Richard previously requested that donations be made to either the Moose or Elks lodge in Wilmington, NC.
