He is survived by: his significant other Grace Durham; his children, John Michael Spears (Allison) and Lori Spears Bayard (Andy); his grandchildren, Johna Wesley Carter Spears, Joshua Spears (Emma), Aedyn Spears, Katherine DuBois (Taylor), Andrew Bayard (Annie), Zachary Bayard and Noah Bayard; his great grandchildren, Grant DuBois, Locke DuBois and Olivia Bayard; his sisters, Jenny Phillips (Richard), Cathy Bizri and Alicia Vossen; his nieces and nephews, Sherri Pandolfi, Marcia Tramell, Erin Baeder, Beau Bizri, Nada Bizri, Jeffrey Stringer and Katie LeMaire; his significant other's daughters, Sheila Youngblood and Caprice Youngblood (Glenn Lea); his grandchildren, Lynn Shackleford (Jacob), Derek Schmidt (Kirsten), Will Lea and Rob Lea; and his great grandchildren, Oliver Schmidt, Bella Schmidt, Evee Schmidt, Skyler Schmidt, Ben Shackleford and Piper Shackleford.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Hospice or Pine Valley Methodist Church.
