It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joan Abbott Amato (Wilmington, North Carolina), who passed away on February 15, 2024, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her husband Ken; her parents, Fred Abbott and Doris Sexton; her sister Margie McManus; and her brother-in-law Jim McManus.

She is survived by: her children, Cathy Blazer (David), Mike Amato (Audrey), Pete Amato (Lisa) and Joe Amato (Sharon); her grandchildren, Tina, Abbey, Jeff, Eric, Jason and Olivia; and her great grandchildren, Bailey, Noah, Sophie, James, Sydney, Grayson, Grady and Vee.

“To the Amato family, I am sorry about your mom, and am sending love and prayers your way. I have such great memories of her and the fun we had. Walking, going to the beach, movies, out to lunch, and the many times at the house talking and laughing! Rick and I were there not long ago and spent a wonderful 4 hours with her! I will surely miss her and know this leaves a big ache in your hearts. She is with your dad, where she wanted to be. Love, Patricia & Rick”

We met while walking in the neighborhood one morning and I've forgotten who spoke first but it was "good friend attraction immediately" !! She will be missed by so many, especially her loving family.
