He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Graydon Hewitt and Bonnie Rice Hewitt; and his brother Larry Hewitt. He is survived by: his wife Deborah "Deb" Hewitt; his daughter Kimberly Ford (Brian); his sister Karen Hewitt Hill (Danny); and his grandson Colton Ford. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations made to Reel Therapy an organization here in Wilmington that supply free off shore fishing trips for wounded veterans.
