She was predeceased by: her husband Douglas McArthur Smith; her parents, William Casteen and Bertie Casteen; and her siblings, Dan Casteen and Frances Pate.
She is survived by: her children, Deide Smith Simmons and Douglas Mark Smith (Linda); her grandchildren, Anthony Smith, Jonathan Smith and Taylor Simmons Fernandez (Ricky); her sister Judy Pickett; and her brother-in-law Larry Smith (Bonita). She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Castle Hayne Community Church or Lower Cape Fear Life Care in Edith's memory.
