He was predeceased by: his parents, Marie Euranie Cheatham and Ralph King Cheatham. He is survived by: his wife Margie Cunningham Cheatham; his sons, Charles Richard Cheatham Jr. and Allan Kent Cheatham (Cindy); his grandchildren, Charles R. Cheatham III, Elizabeth Cheatham Hankins (Samuel) and Catherine M. Cheatham; his great grandchildren, Camden Cheatham and John Wilson Hankins; and his brothers, Albert Cheatham (Nancy) and James Cheatham. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
