She is survived by: her spouse Reg Gilliland; her stepchildren, Kyle Gilliland (Brandi) of Asheville, NC and Marissa Allred (Joshua) of Raleigh, NC; her stepgrandchildren, Mason Hartford, Collin Gilliland, Presley Hartford and Parker Gilliland; her siblings, Max Ruppe (Lena), Sharon Smith (Ronnie) of Fayetteville, NC and Susan Black (Len) of Fayetteville, NC; her sister-in-law Patsy Atkins of Roxboro, NC.; her nieces and nephews, Charles Smith (Mary Kelly), Natalie Kohlleffel (Jonathan), Claire Black, Rebecca Blackman (Josh), Hannah Black, Katerina Ruppe and Lauren Ruppe; and her great-nephews, Noah Kohlleffel, Stewart Smith and Daniel Kohlleffel.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Valley Chapel (4108 College Rd, Wilmington, NC 28412). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the New Hanover Humane Society, 2405 N. 23rd Street, Wilmington, NC 28401, a cause that was close to Carol's heart.
