With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Lela Mae Whitfield (Williamston, North Carolina), who passed away on January 13, 2022 at the age of 92. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Henry and Clero Wynn Taylor; her husband James Clarence Whitfield; and her siblings, Curtis, Sam, Elton, John Henry Taylor, Emma Jean Edmondson and Ethel Coburn Taylor.
She is survived by: her children, Richard Whitfield (Jill) of Williamston, J. C. Whitfield (Vickie) of Oak City and Deborah Whitfield of Branson, MO; her brother Glenn Taylor (Dee) of Stokes; her sisters-in-law, Pauline, Hilda and Thelma Taylor; and her grandchildren, Angelia Leggett, Jason Whitfield, Crystal Whitfield, Caroline Evenson and Justin Whitfield. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, 5; great-great-grandchildren.
