He is survived by: his children, James Clarence Hopkins, Jr. (Jay), Anthony Michael Hopkins (Mike), Karen Hopkins Warren (Eileen) of Williamston, NC. and Sharon Hopkins Stevens (Kenneth) of Williamston, NC.; his grandchildren, Aime Lynn Fountain (Reggie), Alexis Warren Jones (Carrington), Cameron Oakley Stevens and Whitney Sloan Stevens; his great grandchildren, Richard Shavender, Summer Shavender, Courtney Forehand, Kyndal Fountain, Charley Faye Jones and Reid Carrington Jones; and his siblings, Barbara Peaks (Spooky), Mitchel Hopkins, Mamie Hoffer, Maverene Manning (Wayne) and Annie Faye Whitehurst.
