He was predeceased by: his parents, Adam Banner and Georgie Kathleen Craven Mitchell; his wife Barbara Mitchell; and his siblings, Ella Jean Mitchell Beshears, Leslie Faye Mitchell Melton, James David Mitchell and Roger Allen Mitchell.
He is survived by: his siblings, Geraldine Lowe of North Wilkesboro, Buster Banner Mitchell of Hays, Arvil Ray Mitchell (Ann) of North Wilkesboro, Phyllis Smith (Steve) of Hays, Robin Parks of North Wilkesboro and Kathy Denise Mitchell York (Mark) of North Wilkesboro. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
