He was predeceased by: his parents, Hubert Alton and Gozeal McNeil Canter; and his brother James Alton Canter. He is survived by: his wife Nancy Church Canter; his daughters, April Canter Greenwood (Charlie) and Alison Canter Moore (Chris); his grandchildren, Hollie Gray Moore of Winston-Salem, Mitchell Joseph Moore of Winston-Salem, Charles McNeil "Mac" Greenwood of Winston-Salem and John Edwin "Win" Greenwood of Winston-Salem; his siblings, Kenneth Canter (Carol) of Wilkesboro and Patty Broyhill of Taylorsville; and his nieces and nephews, Jeff Canter, Richard Canter, Susan Canter Boyles, Steve Canter, Gary Broyhill, Janet Broyhill Sherrill and Sandra Broyhill Hawkins.
