He was predeceased by : his mother Virginia E. Ayers; and his stepfather Aaron J. Runyon. He is survived by : his wife Wanda Brinegar Ayers; and his siblings, Donna Sue Laws (Ronnie) of Conway, SC and Joe Runyon (Lynne) of Dayton, TN..

Visitation was held on Tuesday, July 9th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Wilkesboro United Methodist Church (309 W Main St p, Wilkesboro, NC 28697). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, July 9th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, July 9th 2024 at the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens (3470 U. S. Hwy 221 N, Crumpler, NC 28640).
