He was predeceased by: his parents, Gilbert Andrew and Pauline Lyllian Shephard Adams; his wife Mary Lou Sturgill Adams; and his brother Mike Adams. He is survived by: his sons, Richard Derrick Adams (Hannah) of Hamptonville, Rodney Eric Adams (Lisa) of Wilkesboro, Robert Jason Adams (Jennifer) of Ferguson and Brian Justin Adams (Angela) of Wilkesboro; his grandchildren, Jamie Adams (Linda Adams), Avery Adams, Hayden Adams, Hannah Owings (Andrew Owings), Breanna Pipes (Isaac), Kendra Adams, Jacob Adams, Casey Adams, Austin Adams and Lauren Blankenship (Dalton); his great grandchildren, Serena Pipes, Graylyn Owings, Easton Owings, Travis Blankenship and Colt Blankenship; his siblings, Carol Mitchell of North Wilkesboro, Jane Myers of Florida, Steve Adams of Myrtle Beach, SC, Sandy Blackburn of Hays and Terry Adams of Hays; and his cousin Nancy Stanley.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, December 3rd 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home (270 Armory Rd, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, December 3rd 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Reins-Sturdivant Chapel (270 Armory Rd, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659). A burial was held on Tuesday, December 3rd 2024 at the Mountlawn Memorial Park (196 Fan Key Rd, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659).
