He was predeceased by: his parents, Sherman William Gray, Jr. and Rebecca Geneva Glass Gray; and his brothers, Harold Gray and William Glenn "Joe" Gray. He is survived by: his wife Peggy Gray; his son Dell Gray of Wilkesboro; and his siblings, Hallie Mae Shew of Wilkesboro, Betty Lue Dula of Ferguson, Ruby Nichols (Wayne) of Purlear, Roby Gray of Wilkesboro and Jimmy Gray (Lynn) of Millers Creek.
