He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Richard and Nell Somers Barber. He is survived by: his wife Willie Dagenhart Barber; his children, Sara Elizabeth Poydock of Lexington and Joseph Richard Barber III of Wilkesboro; his grandchildren, Anna Elizabeth Poydock and Abby Grace Poydock; and his sister Sara Barber Weatherman of Lewisville.
